Lose yourself in the process of monoprinting on a gelatin plate.Using brayers and water-based block printing inks, you'll start the process of creating impressive and exciting images. The fun is in adding flat objects onto the wet inks before laying down your paper. The result, after smoothing the paper down, is referred to as a Negative Image. By removing the objects and laying down your paper again, you are left with a Positive Image (ghost image). You can draw into the wet ink with tools and brushes too! Do you see how endless the possibilities can be? Dates: Thursday Dec. 04, 2008 or Friday, Jan 23, 2009 Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm Fee: $50.00, some supplies included Pre-registration required.
This art workshop is for anyone wanting to explore the excitement and unsurpassed beauty of encaustic painting.
What is encaustic painting? In a nutshell, it means to burn in.
Specifically, you use heat to melt wax so that it liquifies into a workable state.
It's an ancient painting technique dating back at least 2000 years.
The modern encaustic painting technique makes use of low heat irons and beeswax.
This is a painting experience you don't want to miss!
