MEMORIES ON CANVAS
I'm offering this course at St-Elmo's Fire located at 1194 Carp Road, Stittsville, Ontario. Join me there for a wonderful afternoon filled with warm memories. FEE: to be announced, all supplies included DATE: Friday, June 25, Saturday June 26, 2010. TIME: Friday 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Saturday 1:00pm - 5:00pm Please bring old family photographs, letters, cards... The canvas above depicts the only public photo of my Grandmother and her husband. He left for war duty and never returned. In this workshop you will create a painting using old family photographs, letters, and cards, etc. This will evoke memory, nostalgia, and give you an opportunity to explore and share your family history. Images are printed onto Tibetan paper and collaged onto canvas. The luminous quality is a great starting point. We continue adding acrylic paint and collage paper to create a piece of art.

In this class we explore the excitement of transferring images. Imagine adding a family photo to your acrylic painting! Printing the image onto Tibetan paper using my ink jet printer. That's what I did in the painting SIBLINGS #1 that appears above. This is a project based workshop were everything is included. Pre-registration required. MONOPRINTING ON A GELATIN PLATE
Lose yourself in the process of monoprinting on a gelatin plate.Using brayers and water-based block printing inks, you'll start the process of creating impressive and exciting images. The fun is in adding flat objects onto the wet inks before laying down your paper. The result, after smoothing the paper down, is referred to as a negative image. By removing the objects and laying down your paper again, you are left with a positive image (ghost image). You can draw into the wet ink with tools and brushes too!
